Wrth y Môr and Wellbeing South Wales are the holistic and therapeutic arms of the Môr a Sawna family, founded by Kathryn. While Môr a Sawna is the wood-fired sauna experience at Jackson's Bay, the wellbeing side focuses on supporting your emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health through gentle, alternative approaches — using nature, creativity, and therapeutic techniques to help you feel whole again.
Kathryn is a holistic, creative, integrative and therapeutic therapist based in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. She's been practising since 2004 and holds qualifications in Trauma and Mental Health (Level 5), Mindset Coaching, NLP, Time Line Therapy, Hypnosis, Sandstory Therapy, Reiki (Master & Teacher), EFT, Sound Healing, Mizan Therapy, Aromatherapy, and a range of creative therapeutic techniques. She's also a mum of two, a year-round sea swimmer, and deeply passionate about community and spirituality.
Kathryn believes it's just as important to look after our minds as our bodies. Her approach is holistic — treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. Our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and intuition are all connected. Sometimes we struggle to find the words, or don't even know where the challenges are. Through gentle methods like sand, clay, art, images, and other therapeutic tools, you can explore what's coming up safely — without needing to talk much at all.
Absolutely. You can book a sauna session after your wellbeing appointment to maximise your wellness time — it's a beautiful way to round off a treatment.
One-to-one sessions include creative therapy, Reiki, personal sound baths, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), womb wrapping and blessing, coaching, Sandstory therapy, aromatherapy (with essential oil blends made uniquely for your needs), and mindset coaching. You can also combine any of these into a tailor-made package.
You can emerge feeling deeply rested and realigned through a personalised blend of sound therapy, Reiki healing, and a unique essential oil blend made for your specific need. Sessions are about nurturing your inner light, discovering your nervous system patterns, learning to listen to your inner wisdom, and developing tools to improve sleep, manage pain and stress, and reduce inflammation.
Prices start from £30. Exact pricing depends on the type and length of session — get in touch for a personalised quote or to discuss a package.
Group sessions include creative therapy workshops and sound baths. There's something powerful about coming together with others to experience deep relaxation and healing in a shared space.

Yes. Kathryn offers Reiki training and an accredited programme to become a Holistic, Creative and Therapeutic (HCT) Practitioner. This is for adults and professionals looking for ways to understand and support emotional wellbeing and mental health with the people they work with.
The wellbeing practice works with the wider community, groups and individuals (both in person and online), and professionals through the accredited training programme.
Mindset coaching helps you identify and make essential lasting changes that impact your life long-term. It's about getting clear on the obstacles stopping you from living the life you want — then working together to remove them. Expect self-discovery, healing, expansion, and radical acceptance.
Coaching can help you let go of self-doubt, sabotaging habits, negative emotions, and unhealthy coping strategies (such as over-eating, over-working, or addiction). It builds a solid foundation of self-worth, belief, and self-regulation. It can also empower you to become a calmer, more connected parent, create healthier relationships with yourself and your family, and tackle anxiety to improve your mental and physical wellbeing.
Coaching can focus on self-belief and confidence, personal security and foundations, relationships, health and stress management, parenting, and creating a sustainable lifestyle that works for you. Through the process, you develop the freedom and assurance to build a life aligned with your values.
It's an online community space for women, dedicated to personal growth through mindset coaching, wellness, spiritual growth, and creative expression. Using platforms like Zoom and a private Facebook group, it's a nurturing space where women rise together — guided by grace and grounded in soul. The most powerful self-development happens in relationship, not isolation.
The collective covers a wide range: boundaries, relationships, understanding yourself and your needs, expectations, menstrual cycles, shadow work, self-love, self-care, self-awareness, self-acceptance, and creating the life you want. It's a space to process emotions, get creative, stay focused on your goals, and have fun while doing it.
Members get access to creative sessions (switch off, unwind, and connect to how you're feeling), a monthly focus topic (relationships, mindset, self-care, exercise, and more), online coffee chats and Q&As, meditation and hypnotherapy recordings, workbooks and worksheets, journaling prompts, and a members-only Facebook community. All sessions are recorded so you can watch or rewatch at any time.
Not at all. We're all creative in different ways — you don't need to be "anything." Kathryn will guide and nurture your expressive side. Even simple doodling is incredibly effective: it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new neural pathway in the brain, but with creativity and play it takes only 10–20 repetitions. Doodling can bring extraordinary gentleness and compassion to doing deep inner work.
A phone, computer, or iPad for Zoom calls and the Facebook group. If you'd like, you can keep paper and some pencils, pens, or art supplies handy — but it's not a requirement.
Call times and days vary to help as many members as possible attend live. All calls are recorded and made available for catch-up at your own convenience, so you never miss out.
The community membership is £24.99 per month. You can join at any time and get access to all previous topics and discussions. You can cancel your subscription whenever you like — there's no lock-in.
Creativity and play are incredibly effective ways to create lasting change. The brain typically needs around 400 repetitions to build a new neural pathway — but through creativity and play, that drops to just 10–20 repetitions. Simple doodling can bring gentleness and compassion to deep inner work, making it accessible even when you can't find the words to express what you're feeling.
Through creative exercises you can connect — with yourself, the different parts of you, your ideas, purpose, and fullest potential. You can release frustration, disappointment, anger, and trapped energy. And you can start feeling excited about blank pages, about bringing playfulness back into your life, and experience the relief that comes from having your thoughts and feelings truly understood.
Get in touch directly by phone on07903 716325or email WellbeingSWales@outlook.com. Kathryn will discuss your needs and help you choose the right session or package.
Both. 1:1 sessions and group work are available in person (at the sauna or locally in Barry) and online via Zoom, depending on the service.
Yes — Kathryn can combine any of the services (Reiki, sound, coaching, creative therapy, aromatherapy, etc.) into a tailor-made package designed around your specific needs.
Absolutely. Many people come in not quite knowing where the challenges are — perhaps just feeling anxious or stressed without a clear reason. Kathryn's gentle approach helps you explore what's coming up safely, without pressure to talk or have it all figured out beforehand. Whether you're looking for regular ongoing support or just treating yourself to something special, you're covered.
Sound therapy uses sound vibrations to bring your body and whole being back into balance at a cellular level. Everything around us — including ourselves — is energy vibrating at different frequencies. Stress and trauma that isn't released can cause a delay in the flow of energy, and even manifest as physical pain or ailments. Benefits include lower stress and anxiety, fewer mood swings, improved sleep, mental and physical balance, lower blood pressure, improved concentration and memory, restored energy, pain relief, and a sense of stillness and peace.
A sound bath is a meditative journey with sound. Instruments including gongs, singing bowls, chimes, crystal harp, ocean drum, and native American flute ease your body into a meditative state. You simply lay back and let the healing sounds and vibrational energy wash over you — relax, recharge, and rebalance.
1:1 session — £35
2 people — £60
Groups up to 6 people — £170
Creative therapy provides a safe space to express yourself through photography, painting, drawing, Sandstory, clay, and other approaches. It helps bring what's in the unconscious to the surface, make sense of it, and process it — an extremely powerful experience. Whether 1:1 or in groups, Kathryn creates a supportive environment for you to deepen your journey with yourself, awaken your spirit, and cultivate joy.
1:1 session — £45
Group sessions ("Drawing From Within") — £15 per person, up to 10 people
Sandstory therapy is a powerful, creative, and transformative healing process. Using metaphors and symbols to connect with and express the unconscious, you create a miniature world in the sandtray that helps you express feelings, explore issues, develop deeper insight into layers of your being, and gently soften internal conflicts to bring a sense of wholeness. Personal change, problem solving, and healing occur through symbolic exploration within the safety of the sandtray.
Reiki is a Japanese holistic healing method that works through the channelling of universal life-force energy into the body. A balanced energy flows through the practitioner, which stimulates a person's own healing ability. Treatment can be done with or without touch, and with or without sound. A 1:1 session costs £30.
Creativity improves mood and motivation by flooding the system with feel-good hormones. It helps you focus and is naturally grounding — a great way to slow the pace in today's fast world. It's also a powerful problem-solving tool: being creative allows the unconscious to come through, breaking you out of stuck thinking patterns and helping you come up with new ideas and solutions. Studies show engaging in creativity regularly has a positive impact on both physical and mental health.
Kathryn offers three levels of Reiki training:
Reiki Usui Shoden (First Degree)— learn the basics of Reiki to heal yourself and loved ones.
Reiki Usui Okuden (Second Degree)— learn distance Reiki and be able to practise on others outside your close family circle.
Reiki Masters— learn to embody Reiki, explore its deeper teachings, and embrace its full practice.
Training is offered 1:1 or in groups. It's experiential — the majority of in-person training is spent practising hands-on self-Reiki and Reiki on one another. You'll receive a workbook, and ongoing support through WhatsApp and regular catch-ups throughout the year.

Kathryn's HCT Practitioner training is particularly effective when working with children and young people. The creative, gentle, non-verbal approaches (sand, art, clay, play) are especially powerful for young people who may struggle to express themselves through words alone. The training equips practitioners with the confidence and tools to support children's emotional wellbeing.
Start with an open, age-appropriate honest conversation. Acknowledge their thoughts and feelings — help normalise what they're going through. Use phrases like "I imagine that was scary when you first heard about that — is there anything you'd like to ask?" Create space for them to process through play, drawing, or journaling. It's also OK to create space for them not to talk — leave the door open and check in the next day. Limit social media and news exposure, focus on the helpers and the good in the world, and consider what action you could take together. A cwtch can help them regulate and feel safe.
